My paintings portray figures in everyday scenes doing ordinary things we can all relate to. I create paintings from those images possessing the strongest and boldest contrasts of light and dark surrounding the figure, and I accentuate these contrasts to define the character and personality of my subject. My intent is to demonstrate the dependent relationship between light and dark shapes that build the composition, and to emphasize the bold contrasts, patterns, and simplicity of design in everyday life.
